What Is Compound Interest?
Compound interest is interest calculated on both the initial principal and the accumulated interest from previous periods. It's often called "interest on interest" and is the reason why starting to invest early makes such a dramatic difference.
As Albert Einstein allegedly said: "Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world. He who understands it, earns it; he who doesn't, pays it."
